REVIEWS:
"Czolgoszin Seance on psykedeelisempää ja folkimpaa ääntelyä ja sellaisenaan keskitasoa parempaa. Pitäisi kuunnella enemmän, että osaisi sanoa tarkemmin mitään." Jaakob Karhu
"Clay Kolbinger of Maths Balance Volume: an organ winds smoke plumes round the rumbling percussion in the opening piece of Minnesotan campfire ritual. The remaining 3 tracks delve into denser tape noise terrain." Boa Melody Bar
"for the fans of Davenport, NNCK, Skaters etc." Ikuisuus
"Minnesotan Clay Kolbinger is no stranger to those who frequent the land of Foxy Digitalis, but his name might not be instantly familiar. Here's a brief C.V. for those who have yet to be enlightened: one half of Maths Balance Volumes, member of the Davenport Family, also records as Paclumsest, man behind the Miscegeny imprint, and I'm sure the list goes on for awhile. "Seance" is Kolbinger's first solo outing to be released by someone other than himself, and is the second Czolgosz release following the "Buffalo Gentleman" cassette on Miscegeny. Damn, this sure is one hell of a mindfuck!
What we have here are four tracks of home-cooked brain damage tossed with shredded tape glossolalia and otherworldly bone rattling. The whole thing clocks in under thirty minutes, and is bookended by two masterfully executed psych juggernauts: the drugged out tribal jangle of "A Vision of Al-Sod, Sydoc" and the Avarus-like "Two Dreams of a Dying Gangster."
Think what you will about drilling holes in your skull, but I must say that "Seance" certainly makes a case for multiple trepanations. Recommended for inward travellers everywhere! - 8/10" Bryon Hayes, Foxy Digitalis
